Belle Fourche, South Dakota

Belle Fourche, don't you just love that name?  It was named by early French explorers and means beautiful fork from the confluence of two rivers and a creek here.  We found a free camp at the Belle Fourche Reservoir just outside of town.  It is quiet, no bugs or at least the biting kind, but some really cool looking ones

both of these belong to the family of  longhorn beetles

 and no people.

Well there are those who are camping at the pay campground across the lake but we don't associate much with those who can afford RV life at six miles per gallon.

To the east of us

and to the west.

And to the north directly out from our back window.

After the sun dropped below the horizon.

Unfortunately swimming is not a pleasant option which you will see why tomorrow.

Beans and I have been together five months today.

  3. Beans looks happy with the living arrangement. Love those beetles, especially the orange one. But I wouldn't want to find one in my bed!
